OPERATIONAL & SERVICE SECTION AND FIRST RESPONDER UNIT

Introduction

Operation and Service Section responsible in manage, implement and monitor all matters relating in Occupational Safety and Health at UPM. This section also comprises of First Responder Unit acting to provide emergency response.

Role of Operation & Service Section

1. Inspection of safety and health across all Responsibility Centre
2. Investigate accidents, complaints, Occupational diseases, dangerous Occurrences, and Occupational poisoning;
3. Manage schedule waste disposal at UPM involving chemical and clinical waste;
4. Manage radiation protection program for research and teaching license;
5. Manage health monitoring program of staff expose to hazardous chemicals cooperate with the University Health Centre;
6. Manage machine safety program involving the renewal of certification machinery (PMA, PMD & PMT);
7. Implementing monitoring laboratory safety and workshop based on laboratory/Workshop management procedure; and
8. Provide consultation services relating to Occupational Safety and Health.

 

Role of First Responder Unit

1. Respond to the emergency situations and complaints of nuisance;
2. Surveillance fire drill exercise at Responsibility Centers;
3. Inspection of fire protection system and hydrants;
4. Investigate early fire; and
5. Providing services/ consultancy/ training related on emergency response cases.
